The Politics of International Economic Relations

This sequence in the junior tutorial covers some of the major issues in international political economy today: trade, monetary relations, the environment, underdevelopment, and globalization. International economic relations will be studied in light of domestic and international political and economic forces. Political economy constructs will be subject to critical analysis primarily through competing theoretical perspectives and historical background. The principal theoretical visions that will inform the analysis will be Liberalism, Mercantilism, and Marxism. Another principal goal of this tutorial will be for students to begin research on their senior thesis/project.
