Readings In Contemporary Theory
ENGL 296
Spring 2007 not offered
Crosslisting: AMST 296

In survey courses on contemporary theory, the work of major theorists is often only briefly sampled. This half course will enable students to read in greater depth the work of a single important theorist, to see how his or her intellectual engagements change over time, and to develop a better sense of why he or she continues to matter to literary and cultural theory. This third quarter half course will deal with long selections from Michel Foucault's major works from THE BIRTH OF THE CLINIC to his late work on the history of sexuality.
