Elementary Italian I

This course is the first half of the two-semester elementary sequence (101 and 102). The emphasis is on the acquisition and development of basic communicative competence. Linguistic skills are developed through oral, written, aural and reading activities, which provide structured practice of linguistic forms, while also challenging the student's creative skills. Class is conducted entirely in Italian.

Essential Capabilities: Intercultural Literacy, Speaking
This course offers students a variety of opportunities to develop their ability to speak and understand Italian, while exploring similarities and differences between their native culture and the Italian world.
