This seminar explores the process by which historians re-imagine the past, from the minute details of ecological devastatation to the structures of imperial decision making. The goal will be to examine different ways in which historical evidience can be structured to create meaning and to craft a compelling narrative that brings the distant past into active converation with our concerns in the present.
